A person who contaminated treats with tranquilliser and distributed them to minors at a summer camp in the region has confessed to sexual offenses against two boys aged nine and ten years old.

Jon Ruben was arrested after eight minors and a grown-up fell ill at the facility in mid-summer.

The senior citizen, from the Nottinghamshire area, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he was present at the judicial center on Friday.

Yet, he denied a single sexual charge he was charged with, which was involving a nine-year-old child.

Ruben was held in detention prior to a additional proceeding on late November.

'Candy game'

The legal representative, handling the case, described the defendant's actions to the legal proceedings.

She explained his those affected were under-privileged children who were attending a summer program which he operated.

Ruben engaged in a "candy game" with the children, the legal counsel explained, in which he would access the boys' rooms when they were settling down and ask them to eat sweets "as fast as possible".

She stated to the judge Ruben had engaged in this activity with the children "over an extended period", and youngsters had earlier experienced illness the subsequent day.

She explained Ruben had been capable of justifying this repeatedly as the children being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepchild had concerns in summer 2025.

The legal representative added: "In the summer" his family member had concerns about the activities, justifiably.

"They resolved" to investigate in the individual's items."

The prosecutor stated materials including infant oil, Vaseline and injection devices were found, and his stepson contacted the authorities about his suspicions.

She said the defendant continued to conduct the "sweet game" with six children that time - that Saturday - and they were all ill the following morning.

"Law enforcement" had not arrived by that point," she added.

The regulatory agency, the investigative body, earlier informed that it was investigating the police response of the incident.

The legal representative stated the youngsters were struggling to walk due to their condition, so the family member notified the law enforcement a second time.

She stated Ruben then played the "candy game" in a space of five children.
