Area Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Cars, walls and postboxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they stated in a statement.
Police report they were notified during the night on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish substance.
The fluid had been applied in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.
Police then found many other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement report initial examinations show the fluid was likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no indication as to its source; authorities are not yet aware of any injuries in connection with the event," they added.
City officials said they were working "to solve the incident" and have requested to the community for tips.
A senior political figure stated the incident left him speechless and needed to be resolved quickly.
"This event hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the far-right attack in 2020," he posted on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine people by a assailant aiming at residents of migrant background in February 2020.
